To celebrate International Women’s Day — as well as Women’s History Month, which is celebrated in March —Let’s celebrate the power of Women’s Voices with these incredible female rockers!

Brody Dalle is an Australian singer, songwriter, and musician. Oh, and Josh Homme’s ex-wife! She began playing music in her adolescence and moved to Los Angeles at the age of 18, where she founded the punk rock band the Distillers. The group released three albums before disbanding in 2006.

2. Debbie Harry (Blondie)

Deborah Ann Harry is an American singer, songwriter and actress, known as the lead vocalist of the band Blondie. Her recordings with the band reached No. 1 in the US and UK charts on many occasions from 1979 to 2017. Born in Miami, Florida, Harry was adopted as an infant and raised in Hawthorne, New Jersey.

3. Ellie Rowsell (Wolf Alice)

Ellen Ciara Rowsell is an English singer-songwriter from North London. She serves as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the Mercury Prize winning indie rock band Wolf Alice.

Polly Jean Harvey MBE is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments. Harvey began her career in 1988 when she joined local band Automatic Dlamini as a vocalist, guitarist and saxophonist.

Patricia Lee Smith is an American singer-songwriter, musician, author, and poet who became an influential component of the New York City punk rock movement with her 1975 debut album Horses. Called the “punk poet laureate”, Smith fused rock and poetry in her work.

9. Dolores O'riordan (the Cranberries)

Dolores Mary Eileen O’Riordan was an Irish musician, singer and songwriter. She was best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist for the alternative rock band the Cranberries. O’Riordan had one of the most recognisable voices in rock in the 1990s.

10. Amy Lee (Evanescence)

Amy Lynn Hartzler is an American singer, songwriter, harpist and pianist. She is the co-founder, lead vocalist, and sole constant member of the rock band Evanescence.
